Find Your Actual Spot Fee Tier Before Comparing Exchange Costs

Fee comparison tables mean little until you know which tier your own account sits in. Where to find your live maker and taker rate on Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget.

Comparison tables that line up exchange fees side by side are tempting, but they usually show the entry level rate for a brand-new account. Your real cost depends on your tier, whether you pay with the platform token, which product you trade and whether your order adds or removes liquidity. Before deciding that one exchange is cheaper than another, spend ten minutes finding the rate that applies to you today. It is shown inside each account, and it is the only number worth comparing.

Where each platform shows your rate

On Binance, open the profile dashboard and look for the fee level indicator, or visit the trading fee page while logged in, which highlights your current level. OKX shows your tier on its fee schedule page and in the account overview. Bybit displays it under the fee rate section in account settings. Bitget lists your VIP level and rates on its fee page when you are signed in. Take a screenshot of each with the date visible.

Separate maker from taker

Every schedule lists two rates. Maker applies when your limit order rests on the book and someone else trades against it; taker applies when your order executes immediately against existing orders. A market order is always taker. If you mostly buy with market orders, the taker column is your baseline. Traders who place limit orders and wait often pay the maker rate, which on many schedules is lower.

Add the details tables skip

Check whether paying fees in the exchange token changes your rate and whether that option is switched on in your settings. Note that futures, convert and margin products have their own schedules. Look at withdrawal costs for the networks you use, since moving funds out can cost more than the trades themselves for small accounts. All of these are listed on each platform's fee pages, which change over time.

Build a comparison you can trust

Put your actual rates from each exchange into a simple sheet: maker, taker, token discount status and the withdrawal cost for your usual network. Recheck it every few months or whenever an exchange announces a schedule update. That personal table will be far more useful than any generic ranking.

Scenario checkpoint

  • Screenshot your current fee tier on each exchange while logged in, with the date visible.
  • Identify whether your usual orders pay the maker rate or the taker rate on each platform.
  • Check whether the token fee discount setting is actually switched on in your account.
  • Add withdrawal costs for your usual network to the comparison alongside trading rates.
