Prove your recovery factors work before your next trip
Travel is when lost phones, roaming problems and new devices lock people out of Binance, OKX, Bybit or Bitget. How to test your login and recovery factors a week before leaving.

Travel changes almost everything your exchange login depends on: the network your phone uses, the device you carry, sometimes the SIM card and often the time you have to deal with problems. It is also when phones get lost. People who have never tested their recovery factors usually discover the gaps at the worst moment, far from home. A short test about a week before departure turns that risk into a checklist. This guide explains what to test on Binance, OKX, Bybit or Bitget accounts, how to prepare backups and what to do if you lose access while away. Menus differ by platform, so the official help centres remain the reference.
List what your login depends on
For each account, write down the registered email, the phone number, the second factor in use and the devices that hold it. Note whether any factor relies on text messages, which may not arrive while roaming. Leave out passwords and codes. This list tells you exactly what could break when the phone, SIM or network changes during the trip.
Run the test a week ahead
Sign out of each account on one device and sign back in using your normal second factor. Then confirm that your backup works: the authenticator setup key written on paper, or a passkey registered on a second device. If something fails, you still have a week to fix it calmly through the official help centre, instead of trying from a hotel lobby.
Pack the backups sensibly
Do not carry the paper backup in the same bag as the phone it protects. Leave one copy at home in a safe place, and if you must take one, keep it separate from your devices. Avoid photos of recovery material on your phone. If you plan to buy a local SIM, make sure no account relies solely on your home number for codes.
If you lose access while away
Start recovery only from the official app or your saved bookmark, and follow the help centre's steps. Expect identity checks and possibly a waiting period before withdrawals are allowed. Ignore anyone who contacts you offering faster recovery. Once access returns, review sessions and devices, remove the lost phone and update your list for next time.
