Which of your orders count toward a trading task? Reading promotion rules by order type
Exchange trading tasks often count only certain products, pairs or order types. How to read the rules on Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget promotions so your volume actually registers, and how to check progress before the deadline.
Multiple exchanges | the reader's region | the reader's funding currency | referral terms and fee claims
You sign up for a trading task, place a few orders and check the progress bar a day later: nothing has moved. It happens more often than people expect. Promotions usually define exactly which trades count, and those definitions vary widely. Some count only spot, some only futures, some exclude stablecoin pairs, and some ignore trades placed through bots, Convert or certain order types. The promotion terms spell this out, but often in a section that few read. A careful look before you trade saves you from generating fees for volume that never registers.
Find the eligibility section in the terms
Open the promotion from the rewards or events hub inside your exchange account rather than from a social media post, then scroll to the terms and conditions. Look for phrases such as eligible trading volume, eligible pairs, excluded products and calculation method. Note whether volume is measured per side, on the filled amount only, or on the notional value of futures. If the terms mention a registration button, make sure you pressed it: on many promotions, trades placed before joining do not count even if they fall within the dates.
How order type can change what counts
A limit order that never fills adds no volume, however large it was. Partially filled orders usually count only for the filled part. Some promotions exclude trades made with Convert, block trades, copy trading, grid bots or API orders, because they are processed differently. Others count maker and taker volume equally but weight certain pairs more. If the terms are silent on something you plan to use, assume it may not count and ask support through the help centre before you trade.
Checking progress before the deadline
Most task pages show a progress figure that updates with a delay, sometimes daily. Do not keep trading to chase a number that has not refreshed yet. Instead, compare your own order history for the eligible pair and product with the progress shown after the next update. Write down the deadline in your local time, because promotion times are often stated in UTC. If the progress still does not match after an update, take a screenshot of the history and the task page and contact support with both.
Do not let the task choose your trades
Volume tasks reward activity, and activity costs money in fees and spread. Before joining, estimate the trading fees for the required volume using the rates on the exchange's fee page and compare them honestly with the value of the reward. If reaching the target means trading pairs you would never normally touch, or using market orders in thin books, the task is probably not worth it. Treat any reward as a small extra on trades you would have made anyway.
